Yes, You’re Terrible At It: Now Get Over Yourself

It’s important to be aware of our shortcomings, just as it’s important to do something about them

We are all good and bad at certain things.

If we have paid attention, if we have been aware, we should have a fairly good idea of our strengths and weaknesses. It is often those with the best awareness of their own limitations that achieve most success.

However, this awareness should never fall into the category of self-fulfilling prophecies — if we see what we’re not good at as the only obstacle, and sigh, put our hands down and resign ourselves to do nothing about it… well, that’s as far as we’ll get.

The alternative is to acknowledge our limitations, assess each situation, and figure a way out. It may mean getting better at it, it may mean getting someone else to do it, but it will certainly mean getting over ourselves.
