Where does the time go?
I won’t be the first or last person to wonder about the relative nature of time. I feel this is something we all marvel at almost daily. You set to meet with someone a week from now and, when the day comes, it feels like it has been five minutes since you set the date. Conversely, an upcoming exciting trip is only days away, but the drag of those final hours feels like years.
Interesting Mundanity
However, there is a mundane aspect of time elusiveness that fascinates me even more. Perhaps this isn’t as widespread as the examples above, but have you ever asked yourself where certain small amounts of time go, amounts of time we cannot account for? It’s half-past, you’re ready to go except for putting on shoes and grabbing the keys. You do so and close the door behind you; when you check your phone as you rush down the stairs, it’s quarter-to. Where did those fifteen minutes go?
