There’s Help That We’d Be Better Off Without
There is a lot we can do to help others and a lot others can do to help us, but help is far too important to be given or taken lightly.
Help is only as good as the conditions on which it is given.
Not A Money Problem
I recently heard someone say that the reason for a friend to have to sell their house hadn’t been money. It hadn’t been a money problem, like my friend claimed, because the bank had offered help to remortgage his house. The audacity astonished me: you don’t have a money problem because I am lending you money.
My astonishment only increased when I heard others agree that, if that were the case, he really couldn’t argue that money was the reason for selling. The conditions of the loan, the higher interest, the inviability to keep up with payments in the future… they were argued away as a matter of personal priorities, budget implementation or overpowering pride. However, I can’t see past how any loan is a solution to a money problem, and therefore the decision to take one or not will also be a question of money.
