Bursts

We all experience sudden bursts of sadness. For some fortunate ones, it is a rare occasion, while others must deal with them daily. I am not referring to a sadness caused by something external to us. I mean sadness without a source, without reason, that horrible chemical cocktail that seems to form randomly in our brains. Sometimes, if we exercise awareness regularly, we can envision the storm that pours down our arteries and veins. It is worth knowing that there is little we can do about it, for ignoring this could easily lead us to battle with a ghost.

A Powerful Enemy

Indeed, sourceless, sudden sadness is a powerful enemy. I believe those who are intelligent and analytical are particularly susceptible to it. Trying to find external causes is the worst thing we can do about something that is generated internally. It is as futile as blaming others for our own mistakes. It may distract us for a while, but it solves nothing and worsens the immediate future. Yet, it is difficult enough to accept that there is no solution to a problem, let alone that there is no reason for the problem to exist either.

Sharp Minds

The worst scenario involves sharp minds that can astutely weave a tale that somehow…
