Manners Are Much More Important Than We Think

Would you choose a good person over a polite one as a neighbour?

Years ago I remember being startled when I read an author argue that he would prefer to live next to a bad but polite person rather than do so next to one who was good but rude. Today I must admit he was spot on. I would make that choice too.
