Last Chances We Should Not Take

Fear of missing out is ingrained in our genes, but we still have a choice to make

F****** FOMO

We humans cannot stand missing out on opportunities. Judging by my pseudoscientific observation of my cats, I’d go as far as to say mammals, in general, are so inclined. What is it that they have that I could have too? Wouldn’t it be stupid not to partake in something beneficial for lack of trying? Most of these questions don’t even make it to the surface of our consciousness; our brain processes them at lightning speed, and the answers condition our subsequent actions.

Some Aversion

Naturally, humans have long taken advantage of being aware of this process. We use the uneasiness created by this fear of missing out to advance our agendas. It may be the final spark that spurs on a movement. It may be the reason for resolving a state of indecision. It may be a distraction from what would otherwise be blatantly obvious. This aversion to forgoing chances triggers an unfathomable amount of human actions every single day.
