Creatives: I Need Your Work Now (The Weirder The Better)

We’re so busy consuming what is popular or selling our own work that we may be leaving the best art on the table.

There is creative work out there that is ignored by the vast majority of us and that is better than the vast majority of the creative work that we actually consume.

It took me a moment to write that sentence. Have I lost my mind completely? I don’t think I have, but I am calling all creatives to help confirm or refute my currently non-empirical statement.

I have had the enormous fortune of listening to music and reading books that almost nobody in the planet has. I have seen art that very few others have seen and that has blown my mind in a way much of the art in celebrated museums never has. What is it? What am I talking about? Do I have access to some secret vault well the best artists publish their best work for only a select handful of us? Not really.

You, dear reader, have probably also experienced some of the best art out there, art that I don’t know it even exists, because only you and a select handful of others are aware of it. Art that simply isn’t popular.
