Can We Fight The Modern Overwhelm With Primordial Peace?

Summoning peace to find that focus we are all after

Focus is in high demand. How many times are we required (by ourselves or others) to focus every single day? With so many distractions everywhere, those who master the art of focusing will be as desired as their skill. They will be masters of their time. They will be sought after.

Some will go to the extreme of uninstalling apps or locking their phones away to achieve focus. Others will need to operate from cafes or libraries or empty rooms. It is so damned easy to get distracted these days. There is so much to do, and so many ways to do it that it is no wonder we become confused by paths that lead to potential solutions and paths that simply lead to other paths.

The other day I was wondering again about the uniqueness of this moment in time. Never before the advent of the internet had the human brain had to deal with more than one simultaneous conversation. You can have five or ten open chats and be doing two jobs all at the same time. It’s not just you — everyone else is doing this, so the jobs accumulate just as fast as the distractions do.

Even the highly organised will eventually let something slip. There are too many balls in the air. It is okay if one drops, it doesn’t say so much…
