Are You Ready To Commit To Becoming Your Best?

Commitment is a concept that’s easy to throw around but not so easy to fully understand, never mind putting into practice.

Just under two years ago I committed myself to writing at least one article per day. It was an idea I had had for quite some time. In fact, I started a secret personal blog of sorts as an experiment and kept it going for over a month.

I didn’t continue, though. I told myself I was too busy kickstarting my music career. I told myself there was too much on my plate at the time. Do they sound like excuses? Well, they are. There is always a reason not to do something that takes effort. The truth is I didn’t continue the first time because I wasn’t committed.

So what changed? What changed was this time around I knew what the commitment would mean. I didn’t want it more, I didn’t organise myself better. I just committed myself to it. I understood what commitment was, what it demands and I dove into it. Now I have almost 700 articles under my belt and feel ready to publish here on Medium.

Over the past couple of years I’ve committed myself to a few practices that are now well-established habits. The power of habits is immense: 11 minutes of intense exercise, 20 minutes of meditating, 30 minutes…
