A World That Doesn’t Change Us Is A World We Must Change

Lest we waste time stuck in apathy

For what I believe is a rather common occurrence, it is hard to pinpoint the moment when we decided we wanted to change the world. Granted, it is generally some time in our early adolescence, but I struggle to think of a single event that triggered such a transcendental reaction. Instead, it seems to be an accumulation of experiences and thoughts that coalesce into the determination to turn reality upside down.

The Adorable Youngster

It is an adorable act any decent adult likes to see in any young person. It is such an innocent decision to do good in the face of bad that we find it irresistible. Naturally, the young person will deplore this focus on the nobility of the thought and not the epic proportion of the task ahead. Many adults will have given up. Some might have never questioned the status quo. Others will be as keen as they were when they decided to work towards a different reality. In any case, no adult is in a place to help the young mind. All we can do is step aside, swallow our impertinent condescendence, and let hope march on.
