1,000 Articles

Two years and nine months ago, I committed to writing one of these articles every day. Unlike other past commitments, this time I knew what I was getting into. Indeed, I had failed to do the same thing a year before. Fortunately, this time I knew it wasn’t about the joy of writing whenever I fancy writing but about the challenge of writing even when inspiration doesn’t have my back. This one today marks 1,000 entries in this peculiar journal of thought and reflection.

Pick Anything

Fret not, I won’t list 1,000 reasons to write daily. I am sure the reader has guessed I will have yet another reason tomorrow. The main lesson from the exercise has been on persistence. It is tempting to think of persistence as a quality that we either possess or lack. Granted, some of us are more inclined to keep going while others will be likelier to throw in the towel in the face of adversity. However, persistence is an ability that most have a chance to train. The best part is that we don’t need to invest much in training: whatever we want to persist in, all we have to do is keep doing it. Pick any activity, then keep at it. The lessons on persistence will come thick and fast, given enough time.

I’m a musician, but I think every day. So I write every day. Thoughts. Reflections. Life.
